This is a holiday home for Sydney-based lovers of skiing and Aotearoa New Zealand high country landscapes. Its architectural materials are extraordinary - rammed earth, highly polished blackened concrete and heat treated pine. In the soft furnishings we continued the palette of natural materials. We selected furniture which had strong, elemental forms and worked always to balance the heft of the earth walls with lightness and movement. No room has hierarchy over the other in the architecture - we continued this principle the furniture selections. All spaces are equally special and variations are kept subtle.
